Sports-Specific Nutrition must be the starting base for any athlete who desires to optimize his or her natural  potential. A nutrition program must address both, the demands of the training units or competition schedules as well as supplying enough micro and macro nutrients to optimize the recovery process.

Individual needs such as sex, genetics, metabolism and training stage in the annual periodisation model also need to be included.

It is not always the case, but I have worked with several professional football players from top clubs, track and field athletes (Long Jump and an Olympic level Heptathlon athlete) and a world class Fitness Figure athlete, and their nutrition was poor at best.After carrying out their assessments I was not longer surprised at their under-performance.

Sports specific nutrition does not guarantee wining, but it is the base upon everything else is built to succeed.
